yeah, i've done that before too.....my 14th birthday....my mum met me from the river after i'd been rowing and said we were going out to lunch and to spend my birthday money. got to pizza hut, walked in and there were 2 of my close friends standing waiting for a table. so i went over and said hi and how i was having lunch with my mum etc and they fell about laughing. turned out my mum had arranged for them to be there and go out to lunch with me! what a fool i felt! sadly, one of them died later that year. it was one of the best days I had with her, so my silly reaction just makes for an even better memory

Strudel and I are going to see Mika in Birmingham in May too!! My Mum had a big birthday last year. My sister and I tried to give her a surprise party but my sister then went and told her about it! She still had it though and she really enjoyed it, even if it wasn't the trip to Salzburg she'd told us she wanted!

Just because you're old enough to be my mum doesn't mean you're old!!!! You still have loads of your life to live!

It's strange for me to be contributing to this thread because my friend knew him. http://www.brianmay.com/vickisworld That's my friend's story. She met Brian and he looked after her and was a brilliant friend to her whilst she was ill. I met him at her 14th birthday party. We went to see We Will Rock You and were taken to a room backstage where there were balloons and drinks and stuff. Then Brian walked in the room. He'd told Vix he was in Moscow, but he'd actually come to celebrate her birthday with us. I then saw him again at her memorial where he played 'No One But You' and a song that he had worked on with Vicki. He is indeed an incredible man and I will never be able to thank him enough for the amount of love and support he gave to Vicki and her family. Truely amazing man and I am sooooooo glad he's a fan of Mika
