okay I've got the idea of stations. I think I'll take the train, since I want to experience something new rather than fly, which I've done many times. When you say that I don't need to book in advance, does it mean that the train is not always full?

About the size, I don't have any experience with it, so I think 2-3 pounds would be enough to fit our stuff in. I'm planning to send at the end of June, after I've got my exam and have my summer holidays
