Oh, I see the pattern now! Swedish just has 5 declensions when English has Um... Less than that So it looks like there are different endings depending on if its an ett word ending in a vowel or consonant, or an en word ending in -a or being 1 syllable, or if the word has been borrowed from another language. and I'm sure there are exceptions. Complicated but so satisfying!
