Wendi
what no tv ban is this? Doctor advised me not to watch TV - and wear dark glasses when on the computer. Its because of the headaches and dizzy spells - some kind of photosensitivity. The moving pictures on the TV give me a blinding headache!!

What do you think - be social in -2 or be antisocial at home? Depends - if you are going to have fun once you get there, then go - but if its a nightmare - then stay home!! But - they are also a S/I and M/H forum, and both know and share some of my secrets and well as not being put off and quite openly embracing my flaws so in thats sense, very much so. I get the M/H but not the S/I - sorry Its a very healthy thing to do to be able to talk amongst people who understand and do not judge, and who know the problems and pitfalls you face on a day to day basis!! I think it would be good for you - but what do I know!!!

Wendi
People usually know what S/I (sometimes S/H) is but not M/HS/I or S/H = Self injury/harm M/H = Mental Health I knew M/H because I spent 3 months in a hospital that was purely for that purpose - I was a patient!! I had a breakdown caused by severe exhaustion, and other stuff that are not for a fan forum!!
pinkunicorn123
Well, then other than the people on said second website - you get to be the first person i have met who openly admits it. I was in for just over a month for 3 consecutive suicide attempts.

If you have a broken leg, you get a plaster cast - if you have a mental health problem you are supposed to hide away and be ashamed!! There is a lot of intolerance out there - and my bairns got teased at school - your Mum is a nutter, she's in a looney bin etc - but only by people talking out can it be seen as just another "pain" that the body can suffer from! Which is why i like this forum. Things like self harm, eating disorders, mental health of varying degrees arent taboos. Its not pro-anything, just a place where people can talk openly about it without fear of reactions as you mentioned. What shocked me more was that they dont just mention it, they talk about it in detail. Things that i have shut out and thrown they key away on are topical discussions. I can barely utter the words, and these people talk about it in the same line as they talk about what they are planning to cook for tea - its crazy. (No pun intended). Do you kids still get those comments?

Do you kids still get those comments? No - that was almost 12 years ago - but they do remember!! I just make sure that they understand when things like that happen that the people doing the mouthing off are either ill-informed or just plain scared!! It could be them in years to come and so they mouth off to make themselves feel better. Its good there is somewhere you can go where anything you want to say is taken and not misunderstood!! Its healthy for folk who want to go there - and the support, and realisation that others have had the same thoughts and feelings is quite reassuring!
