dcdeb
deb!i had no idea that you were quite possibly in the same boat as me! well.... maybe we can feel sorry about the whole ordeal together! misery loves company - or so i am told! (and you are such lovely company to be in!) Awwww, thanks, tootch! As for our boat... well, my hubby is fine with me going to *A* gig... it's when I start talking about going to more than one that I start to feel the friction. We seldom argue, but we did have a row the other night, when I came back home from Disney World -- not JUST about Mika, but about how much I've been traveling the last few months, and how I really don't NEED to go away so often... all further complicated by the fact that HE's been traveling an awful lot lately. He was in Ohio on Monday, he's in Orlando today, and he leaves for Atlanta tomorrow and won't be home until late Friday. And so then the issue becomes which show do I go to? If I go to Philly I have to go by myself and I'd rather not do that (would love you as my company!) -- it doesn't even sound as if there are many MFC people planning to make that one... if I choose NYC there are some logistical problems... Like Robi said, I won't think about gigs tonight then... But when it's 5 o'clock, I think I'll be ready to BTW, I got to hear the Jo Whiley thing twice today... once while I was listening to it live on BBC Radio and then 5 hours later on satellite radio He did sound good, didn't he? And did you see that one of the girls has posted the mp3 files of the songs he did live? dcdeb

I thought it was very funny that he got through Relax without singing the word Relax once! I am sure that I couldn't do that! BTW my LICM sheet music book came yesterday...........I now keep walking through the house and hear Jake thumping out the intros to all the songs...we have a digital piano very similar to Mika's and Jake is a very good pianist....you can imagine how great it sounds....another reason I aren't getting a lot done! hoochatootch
2/3 c butter 1 1/2 c flour 1/2 c sugar 2 egg yolks - set whites aside - slightly beaten 1 t vanilla 1 c chopped nuts (recipe calls for walnuts - but i use pecans - or if family is bitching about the nuts i will eliminate them completely!) beat butter in mixer for 30 seconds add half the flour, the sugar, yolks and vanilla beat til combined beat in remaining flour cover and chill 1 hour or till easy to handle.... the fun part! shape dough into 1 inch balls roll balls in egg whites and then in nuts place 1 inch apart on greased cookie sheet press centers with your thumb! bake in 375 degree (that is farenheit - so do the metric adjustment) for 10-12 minutes or till edges lightly browned. cool on wire rack fill centers with a small dallop of jam (seedless raspberry is the best) and i drizzle them with a glaze made with powdered sugar and lemon juice

kath
We basically use metric now but strangely I was using a book this evening form 25 years ago and it isn't metric it uses imperial...pounds and ounces and I couldn't cope with it because all my ingredients were in grams..all very confusing! I smiled when I READ YOUR RECIPE AS (sorry) I have an American book which obviously uses cups so I was reminded of it! Thank you so much for the recipe..one question though..do you not call Jam jelly or did you just change it for us!?
