The Oldlings Thread (Part 9)!!!

Good morning, Oldlings!

***TWO DAYS***

I can't breathe...! :naughty:

Hi Robi! In Dutch we use a similar expression: when the cat is not home the mice dance on the table. :naughty:

This made me smile -- because WE say, "When the cat's away the

mice will play!" :)

It's getting chilly here! Last week it was even over 10C and now temperatures are dropping down very fast... It's very stormy and my fingers almost froze off on my short walk from the supermarket back to the office.

Brrr... colder here, too -- and we may have some bad weather tonight.

Sleet, maybe even snow. Better tonight than Saturday, I say! :thumb_yello:

Actually, the weekend is looking OK for queuing in

New York City -- temps around 45 degrees F and

mostly sunny! It's better than below freezing, so I'll take it!

I also have a fun thing to say: my dear dear hubby bought me a MP3-player yesterday!! It is very small and lightweight: 28mmx44mmx12mm and 16 grams. Now the only thing I have to do is work out how the little rascal works...:naughty: Luckily it has only buttons for play/pause, forward and backwards and loudness. But it all comes down to the downloading part....

I'm happy to have my own player for all the MikaMusic I want:mf_lustslow:

That one sounds as simple as mine - and I even manage to screw up mine from time to time! :naughty:

But it's good to have your own personal audio! Being in your own little world with nice music coming straight into your ears... :thumb_yello:

Awwww... counting the minutes Deb? :blush-anim-cl:

In proper English it rhymes indeed, and that is what I like! In Dutch it's 'Als de kat van huis is dansen de muizen op tafel' which sounds less poetic. :naughty:

I found this on Wikipedia BTW: http://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/Dutch_proverbs :naughty:

Good afternoon Oldlings!!

Will be thinking of you tomorrow AMP!! :huglove:

Blue - the glasses sound cool!!! :wink2:

We have heavy snow here - Hazel has been sent home from school

already. Went in early to take my old lady shopping as I will not

be able to get out for her tomorrow!! This weather catches my breath

at the back of my throat which makes me cough more!! Staying

inside now till it gets much better!! :thumb_yello:

Snow in Scotland... :wub2: Well that sounds poetic but I think it can be quite annoying?

I will try to take a pic of my glasses tonight! OK, back to work now!

Catch you later - and yes, the snow looks lovely, but its very

inconvenient if you have to try and go somewhere!!

What time will you start queueing?

I have to figure out the hours/minutes... think it's time to start that

for sure! :thumb_yello:

I don't get to NYC until 11:45, then I'll need to check in at the hotel,

especially since I won't get there until late that night! So by the

time I do all that, I expect I won't be in the queue until 2 p.m.? Maybe?

I'm gathering up some other MFCers along the way coming from

various spots -- and maybe even Suzy and her hubby! -- so we'll

see how we do, queue-wise. :)

Love all the proverbs, btw -- Interesting to see how many are

similar to ours! (But you knew I 'd like them, didn't you?) :naughty:

Oh yes! Stay inside! That cold can't be good for your lungs!

Don't make me come over there and force you to rest, young

lady! :sneaky2:

Enjoying my yoghurt for lunch and catching up a bit with this thread. :wink2:

AMP, so sad to hear about that terrible loss... What a young man. Tomorrow will probably be a tough day for you and your family... How are you doing now? And how is your niece doing?

All sad, ofcourse. I still can't believe it actually, we are going there tonight for a last goodbye. I spoke to my niece last saturday (he died during that night) and I got an email from her on sunday night. She said there were a lot of people in her house to be with her and she got a lot of phonecall, but therefore she didn't really have time to mourn.

It is really so sad.

It really is isn't it. Dave's cousin lost her husband in an accident last June. He was 47. It is very difficult to know what to say or do isn't it. As your neice says, it is nice to have people around her but she probably needs space too

I have two friends who both lost their husbands in the last 8 weeks -

they died 2 weeks apart, but they were a lot older!! I find it is hitting

them very hard now because the constant stream of visitors, the

phone calls and cards/letters have stopped. I think the time immediately

after the funeral passes in a haze of activity - but it weeks later

that they need the most support.

We are always here for you to chat to - anytime - I hope your niece

has a good friends network too!

You are all really sweet!

When people die it is always sad, wether they are young or not so young. But I guess it hits you harder when someone is quite young.

Yes, she luckily has a lot of friends, we are friends too. I see her (and him) more as a friend then as family. (Btw: she is a daughter of my mother's brother, is she my niece or my cousin? I never know the difference.)

And the MFC is like family too:blush-anim-cl:

I know it's an oldling thing to talk about but we were awoken this morning at 6am to gale force winds which knocked over all our plant pots. The table and chairs were strewn all over with 2 legs blown off the table! The it hailed, then torrential rain and by 11am it was glorious sunshine! Weird weather.

everywhere, but ESPECIALLY to a MIKA show! :thumb_yello:

OK, I have it figured:

2 DAYS 12 HOURS AND 11 MINUTES UNTIL MIKA IN NYC!!!

We had gales too - awful - bits a trees all over my drive, and a flood

in my orchard. Last gale lifted daughters 13ft trampoline, and left

it 20 feet up a tree!!!

It's quit stormy here too. This morning it wasn't that bad at all, but now.....I almost was blown of my bike:roftl: And for the kids it was difficult too, but when they go home this afternoon the wind will blow them home very fast!

But no hail here, just a few drops of rain. But the weatherforcast said it's goinig to be worse....
