Tone on the Mfc

I'm all for free speech, and am a big supporter of constructive criticism, because it can usually draw a good healthy debate.

But occasionally good debates can get turned around by some people who have a beef, and feel the need to use the debate to put the knife in.

This I find a little disturbing, as we are trying to keep things on a happy vibe here.

I know this may come across as a little niave but, I feel you can have a debate without bringing it down into the gutter.

And I agree about how the tone of things come across too. When I'm on the phone, like I am now, I find myself being really careful about how I write things, making sure that people don't think I'm being rude or nasty. And I always try to keep my posts a light as possible, so as not to offend. I may not always succeed, but I try.

I know recently I caught someone being a little abrasive in a post, and I engaged in a conversation with them, to correct them on their attitude, and it ended

quite cordially. So I guess I can be diplomatic, ha ha.

If people feel like talking to other forum members it can not

be seen as purely a "Moderators being unapproachable" point.

Maybe reading posts they feel someone other than a Moderator

can understand. I personally have no problem with our Mods,

but maybe to those with the problem the Moderators appear

to be friendly with the person causing the problem!!

I post, with thought for others feelings, and if they don't

like what I have posted thats fine - if they think I have been

hard, or nasty then I feel they should PM me, or contact

someone else to get their opinion.

With so many folk, from all countries and cultures, problems

are going to arise. We can all agree to disagree - but without

being vindictive.

Good point , although the person it goes to should be objective:thumb_yello:

OH NO MEGAN! I didn't mean for YOU to add in there, i ment the thing melanie added in brackets. Deffinitely sends off bad vibes.

Oh.. well it was kind of mean to put that in here because Melanie just meant for Taylor and I to see it so I deleted that anyways :naughty:

Well, I can certainly understand both of these points.

If you're younger, you might want to discuss things with

someone your own age, sure.

And as for what you're saying Wendy -- that may well be

true, that someone might feel that we moderators are friendly

with the supposed problem poster. That doesn't mean we

can't be objective and fair though. At least, I hope it doesn't.

I try to be friendly with EVERYONE here.

Obviously, I have some closer relationships, but I hope that

I haven't been UNfriendly to anyone!

Clearly, I'm not against the original point of this thread --

I don't think we ought to tolerate bullying, and I'm a HUGE

proponent of "why can't we all get along?" I think you all

ought to have seen that by now.

But in looking at the accusations made in this thread that such

bullying and negativity are WIDESPREAD throughout this forum,

and that A LOT of people feel it... well, I have to wonder if

the problem is SO huge, why no one feels able to PM a moderator

about it. That ought to be the standard procedure, as Diana has

posted here:

I don't even remember what I said as it was very late and I was sleep deprived :blush-anim-cl: I really didn't understand the whole yearbook thing though :naughty: That's where it got really confusing to me...
