Tone on the Mfc

I tried to read this thread, but I gave up on page 6.... Like I have given up on most things in here lately:boxed: I am not posting less because I've been bullied, I'm posting less because I end up feeling I'm a bully everytime I participate in any kind of discussion and that feeling is not nice either!

Deb - I think all the moderators - in my experience - are

fair and unbiased - but maybe thats because I have been here

for over a year. I was thinking that some of the newer members

may not really feel they know the mods all that well, and so

may be unsure whether they will get a fair hearing!!

I dont see anything else the mods can do - but I think if

a problem occurs then we, as members, can direct people

in your direction. If they don't want to do that then there

is nothing we or you can do about it.

I also think there are a lot of hormones on this forum - and

they dont bring harmony either :naughty:

Well, I can certainly understand both of these points.

If you're younger, you might want to discuss things with

someone your own age, sure.

And as for what you're saying Wendy -- that may well be

true, that someone might feel that we moderators are friendly

with the supposed problem poster. That doesn't mean we

can't be objective and fair though. At least, I hope it doesn't.

I try to be friendly with EVERYONE here.

Obviously, I have some closer relationships, but I hope that

I haven't been UNfriendly to anyone!

Clearly, I'm not against the original point of this thread --

I don't think we ought to tolerate bullying, and I'm a HUGE

proponent of "why can't we all get along?" I think you all

ought to have seen that by now.

But in looking at the accusations made in this thread that such

bullying and negativity are WIDESPREAD throughout this forum,

and that A LOT of people feel it... well, I have to wonder if

the problem is SO huge, why no one feels able to PM a moderator

about it. That ought to be the standard procedure, as Diana has

posted here:

I agree with both of your points.

Since i made this thread i have have 16 others (ontop of the original 4) contact me saying they they are so glad and proud (?!?!) that someone was brave enough to make the thread and that they wished they were equally brave enough to post in it, but that they wanted me to know how happy they were and how much they agreed.

It seems strange to me that these people would not go to senior members of the site - if not extremely concerning.

Might i suggest an email address that members could contact anonymously.

Obviously with PMs there is a username attatched, where as with an email address, moderators could still respond to complaints without members feeling embarrassed. Free email accounts are all over the web that members could use if they do not want to email from their actual address.

Just a thought.

Yeh I'm fine, just having a bit of trouble finding much motivation to post at the moment really...but I guess that's not really a bad thing, it's much easier to get up in the mornings if I don't desperately need to check MFC 50 times before I go to bed :mf_rosetinted:

I agree here. The thing is that the average member like me is a bit more in contact with other non-mod-MFCers and if a problem arises (if we sniff a change of atmosphere) I usually tell them first to hear what they think about it. I don't usually contact mods first if it's not a specific incident like someone asking for pictures of Mika's pets or so.
