willywonka
That's pretty true. I was always very healthy, and then I got a job in a incredibly busy and hygenic delicatessen where we were required to wash our hands a couple of times every hour with powerful soaps, which led to me being OCD about handwashing, and I'd wash my hands every time I thought I might have touched the meat because it was so icky. Then I constantly washed them at home and everywhere I went - and my immune system suffered (it got confused) and I ended up with Crohns Disease. I won't use strong handwash soaps now. And I try to get the flu every year to boost my immune system. I had to learn to resist that cleanliness temptation. Same here exactly, and also both OCD and Chron's disease...(Oh but you knew that already, didn't ya?)

Yeah I knew that It's amazing how tolerant our bodies are, yet the smallest germ can be a hindrance. Now I remember something that I don't like. I don't like it when doctors treat you like a hypochondriac or that you wouldn't know anything about a disease you've had for 7 years.
englishrose
I don't like wanting to be in one place and yet being obliged to be in another. Especially when Coldplay concerts are involved.
-Jennie-
Very true . I guess that germs are not as bad as they paint them out to be . Now seriously though, apparently research shows that kids who grow up surrounded by pets and generally slightly 'dirtier' environments, have far less allergies and asthma when they are older, and their immune systems are stronger. Yeah exactly. I hate it seeing parents practically sterilizing everything their child is about to touch. That's what my grandparents were like with my mum and now she has asthma, a bunch of allergies and catches every illness that's going wheras me on the otherhand who used to pretty much lick the ground I walked on, I never really catch things or get ill I'm immune to pretty much everything going I think I'm a big fan of handwashing though but that's more because I just like playing with water than the cleanliness of it..... CazGirl
lol i HAVE to wash my hands after using the loo, I feel like I've got a dirty layer on my hands otherwise XD Sometimes I use toilet paper to wipe my hands afterwards instead of the towel. But I really do think people should wash their hands when they're using public toilets....sometimes at work I'll be doing a toilet check and I find it shocking how many people do their business then just walk straight out

Kelzy
I have a friend who positively boasts about not washing her hands I think that is really odd Ewww. That's I think men should always wash their hands since they touch themselves to pee.. It's ridiculous that they are raised not to. Yet another example at how womens genitals were portrayed as evil. Worst Chron's period until now i lost 30 kgs, so they told me i was anorectic and sent me away...And this people call themselves gastro specialists and study for so long! Oh and shopping's like today i weight 65 and buy size 10, next week i'd be weighting 55 and buy 8, in a month it's 70 so its a 12...i go bonkers! My poor hubby has the patience of a saint! You just wrote the story of my life.. Minus the husband of course. I was 57kg this time last year, and now I'm 74kg.. and slipping down again. I wouldn't be so worried about it if all my summer clothes fitted me, but they're all size 10. And I can't afford a new wardrobe.. And then when winter comes I'll have 12-14 in the cupboard but I'll need 10-12. 30 kgs is alot to lose. It's also alot to gain. I know you know you're better off talking to us crohnies. All they study is textbook. I hate textbook. It's all crap. I've lost count of how many different causes these textbooks have told the specialists to tell me.
