Christine
Have I missed something? Are you an ally of Perez ? In this case yes, as are you I believe. Perez wants him to do a musical too. Of course I'm just being silly because it's not like Mika (or Perez) are going to listen to me.
Marilyn Mastin
No, not a reverse Billy Brown... Like Billy Brown before he realised he cannot forever pretend ... In one interpretation these 2 stories can be absolutely connected. Exactly! That's what I have been thinking. Billy before he tried to go straight with the wife and kids, and then ended up falling for a man.
robertina
love the convo! i'd die to sit in a theatre and watch a musical by mika, he should consider this in the future, i've got a visual of a great show with amazing music. about toy boy, i love the song and lyrics, very much, i love this Tim Burton side of mika, i enjoy his horror view of things and relationship. possibilities are endless indeed

I am not really familiar with what Perez would like Mika to do () but I wanted to make sure you are not 'too close' otherwise I would have had to watch my mouth (I can be bitchy at times)
mel_tinydancer
I think Mika should be starring in Rufus Wainwright's new opera. THAT would be fantastic.

robertina
know what? i can see him creating a musical (music, plot, set design), maybe direct it...but not performing in it... how weird as a circus master, i think this role fits him a lot, in a terrific mess on stage! sparkly1
But one thing's for sure- if they tell him the story of toy boy he'll become confused to the point of losing the will to live! Like we have. hahahaa but it's fun trying

But he 's so creative I wouldn't be surprised at all if he wrote/directed/performed in one..... he could probs do it all (lol I sure do believe in him don't I lol, or am I just living in hope/dreamland lol). :shocked:I just thought, if he was in a musical we wouln't be able to scream like fangirls

I fully agree with you... He is a great scriptwriter but not a good actor... I don't even insist on him appearing in his own videos 'acting' .. performing is fine though

Do you have any link to on Youtube...etc? I am quite picky with operas.. I mostly like operas from Italian, Russian, German, Austrian and Hungrian composers... that actually covers almost all of them, though () ....but not Rufus. If Mika wrote a musical, even if he didn't actually perform in it, we would be seeing music history being made! If he performed in it as well... How amazing the musical would be! lollipop_monkey
I just had an elaborate daydream of, say, 10-15 years from now, a musical written and directed by Mika opening on some fabulous London stage to rave reviews. And MFC getting a special premiere.

I think this is the most accepted version TOY BOY I’m a wind-up toy in an up down world If you leave me all alone, I’ll make a mess for sure I’ve a heart of gold in a smaller size Leave me in the dark, you’ll never hear me cry More than an illustration Points of articulation Come to life on a brass spring Such a wonderful plaything It’s a cruel cross that I have to bear Come a little close I’m going to pull your hair More than just a toy in a patch-blue suit Hold me in your arms I’m just a boy like you But your mama thought there was somethin’ wrong Didn’t want you sleeping with a boy too long It’s a serious thing in a grown-up world Maybe you’d be better with a Barbie girl You knew that I had adored ya But you left me in Georgia Toys are not sentimental How could I be for rental? She’s the meanest hag that has ever been Pulled out my insides with an old safety pin I’m the sorest sight, now I feel like trash Clothes are made of rags and they don’t even match So she dressed me up as the man she loved Then threw me in a box when she had had enough Now the light of day I no longer see She stuck her voodoo pins where my eyes used to be Accidentally tragic Victim of her black magic Had a boy once who loved me Now he’s so afraid of me On a long lost day when you’re grey and old Would you be there remembering your old toy boy? When your only son's wondering what to be Tell him the story of a boy like me

sienna
I think it's smaller size - but I'll listen (very carefully ) again. I am really confused about this word in the song. When Mika sings it, the A-sound is a bit open as if he was singing smartest not smallest, but to me it would make more sense if it was smallest. Ah… this is really hard to explain because I can’t write phonetic signs but isn’t there a difference between the A in smart and in small?

I think so, at least.
