Blue Sky
I really love the art I really love the art I really HATE spelling errors, and when no fewer than 20 artists have been involved, do you think not one of them actually read the words? I think it is such a pity to have something so small, which irritates so many people, get through like this. It is the same carelessness as printing off all your business cards with your webpage URL wrong. What if he wrote www.mikassounds.com? Spelling matters. It didn't in Shakespeare's time admittedly, but these days it is just poor form not to check. PS "Swimming through the ocean with a desperate STARE" not "AIR".... Listen again... and "Your baby ISN'T GOING anywhere but up" Maybe these are the changed lyrics he was tweeting about....??? racinghorse83
1. sh*t, you guys are fantastic at whining about NOTHING. BE HAPPY. I'm a editor of several newsletters myself (and i proofread books sometimes) so of course the typos hit me at first too.. but then i thought, who really cares? It's a book of ART. I don't think the book is spoiled at all by these tiny errors. They sound the same out loud, right? 2. The artwork. One thing to say; OH MY GOD. WORTH THE WAIT. MORE THAN I EXPECTED. yay fantastic art book! yay mika! yay huck scarry! (i was SUCH A MAJOR Richard Scarry fan as a child, i had busy busy town and i still have my favorite copy of the best rainy day book that my nana brought me *blush*)

And I noticed that they included an extra think in Blue Eyes... It's irritating me too, but I pretend not to care... cause apparently people hate being corrected iwth spelling and grammar mistakes Man, I can't get enough of that song! Mici
Hello See here in this section some illustrations of the EP's booklet: http://www.mikasounds.com/art/view/529 :mf_lustslow: And enjoy Edit: Here is another source (sorry about it ) Thanks for the heads up!!! Its very beautiful. I especially like the first illustration with all the red/orange and blue colors. The cover of the book is scary the combo of skulls and flowers, creepy and original. I love that little green frog. I preordered it as well, can't wait to browse through the whole book.
lollipop_monkey
1. sh*t, you guys are fantastic at whining about NOTHING. BE HAPPY. I reserve the right to whine about typos and lyrical inaccuracies. I think they distract from the beautiful art. That said, MFCers are very, very skilled at whining. Someone once said that Mika could perform a gig in an MFCer's living room, and strip naked while doing it, and they'd all whine that he didn't take his clothes of fast enough. OK. you can officially retain that right. good luck, i'm sure mika will really listen. i'm just past the point of picking flaws in mika's work. its not worth the hassle. i'll just sit back and enjoy it. THAT is a great quote! it should go in the MFC guidebook
fantapantsprice
I just ordered my copy of the ep so excited!! does anyone know when we will actually receive them? Also, what's this about a gift from Mika, is that if I don't decide to take the ep or what??!

sienna
“You think think you’re woman” That line from Blue Eyes really bothers me; I can’t hear him sing that. To me it sounds like there is a "ng" sound somewhere in the middle of the think think???? What do you hear?

dcdeb
But here it's not about blogs or twitter.......lyrics and book should be def proofread by someone else Well, that's just it -- I'm not going to correct anyone who makes a spelling error in casual posting on a forum, or on Twitter. It's a bit rude, IMO. You don't stop your friends in the middle of a conversation when they say something ungrammatical, do you? If someone says, for example, "I've got..." instead of "I have" or "I have gotten," you wouldn't interrupt them and say, "Excuse me..." But this is a formal publication -- there were, ostensibly, people who were paid to make sure this publication looked polished and professional. A lot of care obviously went into the production. Someone, therefore, should have caught the mistakes -- I don't think they were intentional. And for the record, I'm not whining about it. I'm just stating a fact: There are errors, a number of them, in this digital booklet. PS "Swimming through the ocean with a desperate STARE" not "AIR".... Listen again... and "Your baby ISN'T GOING anywhere but up" Maybe these are the changed lyrics he was tweeting about....??? Maybe, BS. I hear "going" in the latter lyric, too, but thought from the first time I heard it that "growing" would have made more sense. 1. sh*t, you guys are fantastic at whining about NOTHING. BE HAPPY. I don't think the book is spoiled at all by these tiny errors. They sound the same out loud, right? OK, I know I said above I don't do this, but I can't resist here: You're "a editor?" And you're kidding about "who really cares," right? What if they were someone else's lyrics? I'm guessing the author would care about that. What if there are other spelling errors throughout the book? What if all the artists' names were spelled incorrectly? I bet they would care about that. (In fact, Nilesh Mistry and Walter Van Beirendonck are misspelled in the press release that's on Mikasounds.com, although they are correct in the list of authors that follows.) I don't think the typos "spoil" the book -- the art IS amazing, and, as you said, more than worth the wait -- but they in fact make it less professional than it could have been. That's all. racinghorse83
OK, I know I said above I don't do this, but I can't resist here: You're "a editor?" not professionally. but you got me there. the perfect example of why you shouldn't comment on typo's, talk on MFC (or be anywhere near a computer, really) at 3am But this is a formal publication -- there were, ostensibly, people who were paid to make sure this publication looked polished and professional. A lot of care obviously went into the production. Someone, therefore, should have caught the mistakes -- I don't think they were intentional. And for the record, I'm not whining about it. Yeah, you have a point. But no, i wasn't kidding. I was stating how i felt. I personally don't think it matters hugely, but i understand how it can matter to some people, and matter to the artist (depending on which one it was) and all. Persoanlly, I just thought everyone was being rather silly, making a huge deal over typos and not commenting on the actual book, and i felt that was a shame. reading through the thread i didnt feel like reading posts by people repeating over and over about how much they hated the typos, and how shocking they were, and i thought; jeez.. theres this beautiful art, and you actually GET the lyrics for once, and still you all whine!
