Here's a nice little review of the song We Are Golden.

I wonder if we should make one big reviews thread? Or just keep them seperate? :dunno:

Took the train- to the end of the line where only Mika goes

Three years after debuting on the British charts Mika has just released his first single “We Are Golden”

from the September-awaiting to be released album of the same name.

The video is as Mika as it can get; with vibrant colors and teddy bears galore,

the music video is a circus of clowns with plenty of energy and lovely

alternating realities. The song on the other hand feels a little too childish.

One must reckon that is deceiving. So if you have heard of the artist before,

and let’s say his song “Lollipop”, you could see the relationship of taking

something mild like candy and turning it into a deeper meaning.

This is what “We Are Golden” sounds like.

The song, which rides around an almost manic-depressive narrator,

talks about the surreal way life moves about and maybe not being strong

enough to survive it. The song is both empowering and questionable and

with the usual Mika vocals, and the children-choir-like chorus, the song is

obviously about being “young and wanting some”.

It would be interesting to know what Mika thinks of being golden,

although it could be seen as the importance of each individual and how

we are all so used to running from running.

The song is rather random at first listen, but if you are to judge the song,

do not do it by its cover. The lyrics may surprise you once you listen to

the song that way; it is very much grown up. Like Mika, thus, the song

being just as poppy, just as magical, and just as potent as his previous work.

Mika's songs speak to us all as individuals. what it means for me (as someone looking back on my teens from a long way off) will be different from what it means for a teenager, and someone in their twenties may think about it differently.

But all his songs mean something to each of us, and that is why Mika is, and for everrmore will be...

THE MAESTRO OF POP!!!

That was a great thought provoking review. I think people are now realising what we've all known since 2007! We have a living legend in our midst... and his name is MIKA!!
