silver
Patterns are not compulsory. (Although mine had a little border) They're back! Starsky definitely had a pattern on his. Plain belted cardigans have always been around

But not on the whole fashion that followed. Maybe they'll call it a Mika cardigan now? He sure looks good in it

RAK1
Funny that Sosi should mention the Starsky cardigan, because the pose they are doing reminds me of a typical Starsky & Hutch pose. Ha ha! I LOVE the cardigan btw, loved the original Starsky one.

silver
On his, yes. But not on the whole fashion that followed. Must have been different in your part of the world then. We never called a plain cardi a Starsky. It also had to be made from a weird wool like alpaca or something (or goat, in the case of my brother's )
babspanky
i can just picture mika with curlers & a hair-net in this picture with a fag hanging out his mouth What a style icon!

It also had to be made from a weird wool like alpaca or something (or goat, in the case of my brother's ) Your brother was obviously a Starsky fan. It was the style that made it a Starsky cardi, not the pattern, and massive high street fashions can't be made out of weird wools

silver
No, that's a cardi like Starsky wore. They took off- they were absolutely huge! There were long knitted cardis around before Starsky, and after. He just made it fashionable for men to wear them for a while. Like Crockett made it acceptable for men to wear pastels. The men down here, however, would only wear a patterned long cardi like Starsky, hence the name.

Christine
This thread is hilarious. Hasn't anyone noticed the tartan trousers? Or is it only 1977 we're commenting on and not 2007?
