I did keep asking if you'd made it or not in the end .... glad you did :boing:

Thanks Laurel :huglove: We did make it, and it all worked out very well!

Erik hassle's on, bless him. Some woman's pushed through to second row and keeps pushing against my bum. When i've turned around to have a go she claims not to understand but my sign language is clear enough and she will NOT get to the front. Cow. I've got doctor martens on so the foot will be going back and causing damage if she pushes against me once more. Pssssht.

Why don't you just fart? :naughty:

Just warn the others next to you in advance :teehee:

Thank you for your report. I´m happy you could see the gig yesterday. I thought you would also be in Manchester today? Did you take some vids yesterday?

I agree Mika looks very good in grey and I like the shorter hair :wink2::wub2:

No,:wink2: I didn't bother with videos as I only take them from the front row due to the inconvenience of doing it anywhere else. I am always very conscious at gigs not to block anyone's view, so I never hold the camera over my head or over my torso. When I'm in the front row I hold it in front of my body so that a-I can see, and b-nobody else's view is blocked.

If I had filmed yesterday, in order to get good footage I would have had to hold the cam up and annoy others, which I'm not prepared to do, so it had to be a "no".

I'm sure that a few others have taken a few videos of it though!

Ok, so we finally made it to the gig, fashionably late and 10 minutes before Mika was set to go onstage :naughty:, but despite everything we still got quite a good spot on the side of the stage and managed to see him quite well throughout the gig.

Aw, good to know you made it after all the hassle you had! :huglove: 10 minutes before Mika was on and still a good spot? - Makes one revaluate the queueing business. :teehee:

No gig for you today?

Yep, last night was quite the adventure :roftl:, and after the gig it wasn't even over, as I hopped onto a bus that left Sheffield at 1.20 am and got me back to London in the morning (I was meant to work today :aah:).

Re the queuing and spots business: We were quite lucky. It always comes down to luck, and to what you do when you're there. If we had just stayed in the place where we were when we walked in, we would have had a crappy spot and seen nothing, but we went on an "inspection tour" of the room, and found a nice little hidden spot that most people seemed to have given a miss :dunno: Maybe because it was to the side? No idea, but we still saw him very well, so it wasn't bad at all.

When we walked in I was sure that we'd see nothing, so to go from that to seeing Mika for 98% of the show was quite great in my book :roftl:.

Mika at o2 Academy, Sheffield UK. 18th Feb 2010 Part 2.

I really can't believe the energy of this guy!!! Mika leapt around the stage to Big Girls - making it virtually impossible for anyone to get sharp photos of him - this I have learned over the 4 times I have now seen him live.

The delivery of his songs came with very little introduction this time. That's when you really know you have made the big time. Everyone knows the songs from the strike of a couple of chords. I think he said something at this point about never playing a full gig in Sheffield before and that he was happy to be here. Naturally the compliment was well recieved.

Stuck In The Middle saw an unadorned piano brought forward for him to play this song. During the middle he announced that we would be treated to the best trumpet player Sheffield has ever seen!

Teasing us all and introducing a surprised bass player Jimmy with his trumpet! Even stuck his tongue out at Jimmy at one point- playfully of course. Initially Jimmy, reluctantly folded his arms but gaveway to jazz hands as he got into the prompt.

Mika let Jimmy have his moment, then he playfully expanded his hands as though saying "I can top that".

He cupped his hands around his mouth and belted out a competitive trumpet impression followed by a couple of highly amusing "I did it better" hand gestures! Hilarious.

The following couple of songs were the upbeat Blame It On The Girls and the fabulous favourite Billy Brown which went down very well, especially since Mika shed his jacket and donned a black cap for the following Any Other World. It was a very moving performance to witness.

Part 3 to follow

thanx for your report+vids - love the SITM one, that jimmy trumpet solo is just hilarious, esp. the way he's waving around with his arms while doing it! :lmao:

thanx also to everyone else for reports+pix+videos - watched some of jazzy's videos, fab! LOL @ the beginning of dr john, where he says "everywhere f*cking feathers!" and starts coughing! :lmfao:

and could someone please make a transcript for me of all the talking he does at the beginning of toy boy (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vzIIiMxy3cc)? i can hardly understand anything. thanx. :flowers2:

. . .He's really turned into a great showman, and I feel deeply proud of how he's evolved, and of being his fan.

What can I say, I :wub2: Mika.

EXACTLY what I thought/felt last time I was lucky enough to be at a MIKA performance

and that night I told him:

"You just keep getting better & BETTER."

I didn't catch all of it, but I heard:

"Don't look so miserable, stupid boy. You're supposed to be me. They don't want to think I'm suicidal (something). You'll have to excuse my doll. Once again (something). Puppets shouldn't drink Vodka, stupid ass. I am 26 years old, I am on stage in a city I've never performed in and I'm talking to a f***ing doll."

Haha I hope that helps. Hopefully someone who was there or has better ears than I do can give you a full version. :aah:

OH it was so amazing... I've got a massive balloon and shedloads of golden confetti. My sister has drawn a face on the balloon :biggrin2:

I want to go and see him again... should I go to Birmingham next week...? hmm I have a half day, but I will be exhausted because I'll have 2 full days at work following it. I've only just recovered. I was jumping and dancing so much

Which song did he get us to close our eyes and jump on the count of 3? was it WAG??? that was fun

Jealous of you guys who met him. unfortunately I had a train to catch. i think next time I see him I'll hostel it so I can stay outside and wait

I'm so tempted to go see him again and it'd have to be Birmingham or London, though I think Birmingham is sold out. But I don't fancy going London on my own, so I have a lot of persuasion to do to any of my friends. Hehe (:

Texted Kath, and she highly recommends putting yourself forward for the BG or LG parts, so I decided I'll do it in Birmingham now, as I have something planned for Bristol.

oohh I'd be a bit cautious of being a big girl or lollipop girl i had a horrid time of things the mask thing on my head I couldn't see out of & badly injured my already damaged knee i couldn't see where I was going one of the backing singers a lovely lady had to hold my hand so i didn't bump into anything else.

It was one of the case things with very sharp metal edges you should see the horrendous state of my poor knee!!! I thought it was only a bit of a scratch no worse than a cat scratch but when i got home & saw it i nearly threw up it looked that disgusting!!!

so do be warned it's not great having those things stuck on your head, they're heavy & if you can't see out of them you're doomed

it's such a shame as I had always wanted to be a lollipop girl & was happy to be picked but when i got on stage i was just so glad to get off & that people couldn't see my face.

It turned out to be an awfully disasterous night for me, when i arrived i needed to use the ladies but with me waiting to be picked to be a lollipop girl security wouldn't let me go I waited 2 hours 40 minutes to be able to go, then the venue was stuffy I could barely breathe I couldn't get any water & i thought i'd pass out!!!

Also to top it off I couldn't see Mika for most of the gig I could hear him but for 90% of the show i didn't see him at all

it's just a shame the only fun i had was before the gig when we were getting fitted for out outfits:boxed:

it was so bad when i got home i cried :crybaby:

Not Mika's fault of course just one of those crummy things that always happens to me :boxed:

I'm just glad i'm going to the leeds gig tomorrow so i can at least get to SEE Mika this time

I'd happily be a lollipop girl again as long as i didn't have one of those stupid mask things on my head again they are NOT a very good idea!!!

by the way has anyone posted somewhere the group photos that were taken of Mika & us lollipop & big girls after the show? do let me know thanks :)
