Christine
My lyrics are so wrong I must edit them Okay now that we have much better audio I can hear a few things more clearly. We'll start with Hiba's last edit and then I'm going to update the front page. Lola People always make me crazy Love me last, don’t love me maybe What’s the point in singing silly love songs? Who do they think they are to tell us? Make me sad and make my jealous Don’t believe a word cause they are so wrong Lola, Lola Oh sex and lies and mystery They don't bring out the best in me Keep jumping from one lover to another I thank you for the time you've taken Clearin up the mess I'm makin Made the same mistake over and over (Oh) Lola, I’ve made up my mind And I’m not going to fall in love this time (x2) Lola, oh Lola Oh why pretend to be so jaded It's so easy just to hate it Anyone can love you for a dollar But when you find your love's for real You'll beg and borrow, cheat or steal Trying to get some money just to call her (Oh) Lola, I’ve made up my mind And I’m not going to fall in love this time (x2) Like a fish out of water It picks you up and it puts you down Why do we even bother When there’s only one way out And we both know it, Lover (Oh) Lola, I’ve made up my mind And I’m not going to fall in love this time (x2) Oh you could stop it if you try Love makes you laugh, it makes you cry The oldest game in history, repeating. (x2) Oh Lola Oh Lola baby it’s just another love song (x2) Oh Lola, I’ve made up my mind And Lola baby it’s just another love song (x2) (Lola, lololollala lalala) Lola baby, it’s just another love song…
Fran
Everytime I read the "like a fish out of water" line, I can't help myself but thinking of Gang Bang, or Bang Bang or whatever that song is called. I like this song a lot though, A LOT MORE than Celebrate, but not as much as TOOL, which is close to perfection , except for the "nicorette etc" part that I find a bit too awkward. Besides, Lola sounds so much like "old Mika" imo and I can totally see it being played on radios in Brazil even if I don't believe it would ever happen, if you know what I mean. katydid1994
I love this song! My favorite part: Oh sex and lies and mystery They don't bring out the best in me Keep jumping from one lover to another I thank you for the time you've taken Clearin up the mess I'm makin Made the same mistake over and over But! again a fish out of water I do wonder how many songs out there use this line and would that be the key to discovering the other mystery songs he has written for other artists? Christine
Here's another clear audio: I thought he was saying "it picks you up and it spits you out" instead of "puts you down"...even though it should probably be "chews you up and it spits you out". But it doesn't really sound like chews you up.

eloise.shaw
Have to say, I find myself humming, 'Looooola!' from time to time. It's growing on me. But to be honest, just like all the other songs, I think I'll have to listen to the album version before I make up my mind about them

sienna
Thanks to the always helpful Christine:wub2: I have finally been able to listen to all the new songs. I don't know how I feel about this one yet, I really have to listen to it over and over again to make up my mind! I read this thread to get a little help with lyrics. what does 'Lola' have to do with the rest of the song? Good question! What does "Rain" have to do with the rest of the song with the same name? Thread carefully.: Rain is probably the best he has ever done right up there with SITM:sneaky2: It was pourring with rain the day he wrote it, if it was summer the song would be named Sun... Blame it on the weather... See, as simple as that! Well it's pleasant, I suppose. Quite old-fashioned really. But I'm beginning to think I would rather have out of love Mika if this is what love does to his song-writing ..... Oh no! It will be better. It must be. Remember when the first songs we heard was from the EP with those four songs between his albums? It made you think a little but then the second album came with some real masterpieces! Be patience. It says: "great masterpieces arise from the grief". But apparently it's not his case, since he wrote Celebrate after a break up He did? I didn't know that. Very logical anyway because when you are ready with the grieving part you tend to see the world in a new light, right?
Gatagordinha
Not sure about this song yet. It's a little bit repetitive and predictable. I like the piano line in it, that's catchy. I hope on the recorded version that's really to the fore of the mix and the backbone of the song. Something about the title grates on me..Lola..I keep thinking of Barry Manilow I mean Bazza is a legend but he's not something I want in my head when listening to Mika. CazGirl
I really like what I hear from the studio version. Would have liked something less simple and a little more punchy...for example, I kind of want to get up and dance instead of just bob my head along...but I like it. Quite a bit, actually.
