When someone's hoping for something, you show that you'll hope for it too by saying 'Ill keep my fingers crossed' or if you're wishing something, you might say 'Im keeping my fingers crossed' Ex: I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I can earn enough money to buy TOOL when it comes out! And you can say it whether or not you actually cross your fingers.
