Kaito
I'm looking forward to listen to it... I expected worse French lyrics than these as a lot of people think this song is awful xD haha~ We'll see on Monday then
cathouzouf
It is a beautiful song! I knew it. I'm really excited about it. It was a struggle as a duet last year, but I was sure about the song. It has a quality of the song that could last. I'm so glad he did it. It could easily sound pathetic and boring, but he did it so beautifully and I'm glad he sings alone. He left out everything that could go wrong. And I don't understand a word. Well I do understand couple of words. Are the lyrics similar to English ones? More or less.. There are more imagery in the French lyrics
Ellenowl
Here you are: Thanks so much! It's a lovely song and better now. It doesn't seems (especially at first) to roll of the tongue easily, but the lyrics mostly seem to fit well . Ahhh... Good break from the mostly electronic album! Shame somebody's posted about it being illegal etc. but unless someone lives in France, they cannot even listen to the song otherwise. If we are unable to purchase the song at all,how is it illegal to listen to it on the Internet? And how is it bad for mika?

About a couple fighting because of their pride but still making love even if the weather's bad ...I guess I should translate it soon

Kaito
TRANSLATION : Here we are, you and me on our (mountain)top These two pridemountains we have to lift Who’s to take the blame? The one (blame) we always argue about Will the first who jumps be the king or the clown/crazy ("fou" means clown /crazy) ? Behind us falls the pouring rain Running down to a shelter We could even forget ourselves My love, no one’s in sight There’s only the bitter weather No one here, no more season Why should we listen in vain to the cruel weather Me, I’d rather make love despite the bad weather Here we are, waiting for the first of us to slide He/She’ll break the link, sat right by the precipice We’ll learn that only mountains do not meet each other, Far too proud to make any first step Behind us falls the pouring rain Running down to a shelter We could forget ourselves My love, no one’s in sight There’s only the bitter weather left No one’s here, no more season Why should we listen in vain to the cruel weather I’d rather make love despite of the bad weather My love, no one’s in sight There’s only the bitter weather left No one’s here, no more season Why should we listen in vain to the cruel weather I’d rather make love in spite of the bad weather Making love while despite the bad weather Hmmm hmmm hmmm.... Note : assassin means « murderer » temps means « time » + « weather » in French être au bord du précipice = to be on the brink of collapse. As you can see, there isn't ONE translation for each line as words have got several meanings... He's playing with sort of idioms, "poetry"... I think the lyrics are beautiful... I'll give my opinion once I have heard the song ^^ Edited September 15, 2012 by Kaito

crazyaboutmika
TRANSLATION : Here we are, you and me on our (mountain)top That these two mountains bear Who’s to take the blame? The one (blame) we always argue about Will the first who gives up be the king or the clown? => We could understand it differently as well… « sauter » means « to jump » but … I don’t know, it’s weird xD) Behind us falls the pouring rain Running down to a shelter We could even forget ourselves I think he means jump because the two lovers are like two proud mountains , so the first one who takes a step towards the other "jumps' because there is a big gap between the mountains created by pride..that's only my interpretation Thanks a lot for the translation Kaito My love, no one’s in sight There’s only the bitter weather No one here, no more season Why should we listen in vain to the cruel weather Me, I’d rather make love despite the bad weather Here we are, waiting for the first of us to slide He/She’ll break the link, sat right by the precipice We’ll learn that only mountains do not meet each other, Far too proud to make any first step Behind us falls the pouring rain Running down to a shelter We could forget ourselves My love, no one’s in sight There’s only the bitter weather left No one’s here, no more season Why should we listen in vain to the cruel weather I’d rather make love despite of the bad weather My love, no one’s in sight There’s only the bitter weather left No one’s here, no more season Why should we listen in vain to the cruel weather I’d rather make love in spite of the bad weather Making love while despite the bad weather Hmmm hmmm hmmm.... As you can see, there isn't ONE translation for each line as words have got several meanings... He's playing with sort of idioms, "poetry"... I think the lyrics are beautiful... I'll give my opinion once I have heard the song ^^ I think the meaning is "jump" because the two lovers have each a mountain of pride so there's a big gap between them and no bridge because their pridemountain is so high , so instead of one of them taking a step towards the other, the one who wants to get closer has to jump because of the huge distance between them ...that's only my interpretation of course
Kaito
I think the meaning is "jump" because the two lovers have each a mountain of pride so there's a big gap between them and no bridge because their pridemountain is so high , so instead of one of them taking a step towards the other, the one who wants to get closer has to jump because of the huge distance between them ...that's only my interpretation of course Reading your whole interpretation, it'd make more sense Actually, there is a spelling mistake in the FR lyrics... I thought Mika had *again* invented some words xD It's "de fierté" :> Here we are, you and me on our (mountain)top These two pridemountains we have to lift Who’s to take the blame? guylainem123

Sweetieval
I like this song very much in french, it is so poetic Apart from the "météo cruelle" which sounds quite ridiculous in french I think Mika's beautiful voice is obvious in that french version because I think Ida's voice was better than Mika's on the duet... (after what I saw in the gigs in Compiègne and Liège), I have never heard the english version on a CD...
macboll
As much as I hated this song in English when it was first sung at Compiègne, I have to admit that it's a lot better with French lyrics. I don't mean that the lyrics were not good in English nor that they are better in French. I mean French language fits the melody, the rhythm better than the English language did. Scififilmnerd
I think it's a lovely song. It's very beautiful and atmospheric. Yes, it's in the same tradition as Lady Jane, only better. Mika has yet to make a song I don't like.
