mellody
hubby did a bit of research about prepaid cards for the smartphone, and came up with this: http://www.fido.ca/web/page/portal/Fido/PrepaidPlans/Addons?lang=en - the week pass for 5$/60MB sounds interesting, because when you've used it up, you can just buy another week pass, and the price is ok. does anyone know more about this provider/package, whether it would be ok, or did we miss anything in that calculation? we saw that the sim card will cost 10$ once, and i guess you can only use it in one state (for example quebec), as you have to choose the state when you enter the site. but as we'll have free wifi in our toronto hotel, but not in montreal, it might make sense for montreal. something else, what's the best way to get from the airport into town in toronto, and from downtown to the airport in montreal? is there a metro connection, or some train like the heathrow express in london? i guess cabs are too expensive (anyway in munich that would be the very last option i'd choose to get to/from the airport! ), and i'm not too keen on taking a bus with the baby and all the luggage... Fido is a good provider, you should be OK with it. No train to go to Mtl Airport but a bus, the 747 (run by Société de transport de Montreal) or cabs which are at a fixed 40$ rate from downtown. You could find all the various way to go to the airport at http://www.admtl.com/en/access

BangBangLou
Hello everyone, I was just wondering when everyone will be arriving/leaving Montreal. I know a few people coming in early in the week, I'm flying in on Saturday before the gigs and leaving on the Saturday (14th = Valentine's day) after the gig. I was wondering if anyone would like to get together during the days or on the free evenings to wander the city, get some lunch, visit tourist spots, check out some pubs, go dancing, go karaoke, or whatever I'm very excited to meet many of you at the big dinner that's in the plans but it sure would be nice to get to know many of you even better when we've got some time just to hang out. This is going to be such a fun trip, I'd just love to make the most of the time I have in Montreal and with/among you all. Hey! I fly in Monday night and leave Friday morning. I am totally down for meeting up and hanging out. Is Wax Mika still at Grévin Montreal? Am I the only one who wants to go see that thing? Haha If people want to meet up/start talking, feel free to add me on FB! I check that more often because it easy on my phone. http://Www.facebook.com/bangbanglou

I've been to a few different wax museums and they are all fun and weird. I went to one where if you touched JLo's butt her face lit up as if she was blushing. couldn't stop touching it. It is! All the info about the bus to the airport http://www.stm.info/en/info/networks/bus/shuttle/more-about-747-aeroport-p-e-trudeau-centre-ville-shuttle However, for anyone who wants to wander around a bit, regular buses and metro (underground train) is more practical. The metro is linked to many building by indoor tunnels, could be practical if the weather stays as cold as now... I agree that going to Grevin together with MFCers would make it special - hope we can make it, I'll be ready any day! The idea about flowers for MIKA is great, count me in with $10, I'll pay you back when I meet you, hope that's OK - thanks in advance! Sorry for my late answer - we've had terrible snow storms here, and the internet has been out for days... Btw, I like your countdown - it's a nice reminder that the OSM adventure soon will be a reality... Love, love me

The metro is surely great to use, especially if linked to many buildings by indoor tunnels. But I assume that the heat from MFCers, from all over the world, will "change your climate" - to the better, these days ... Love, love me

Thursday sounds good to me too I would love to go to see Wax Mika with MFCers, I've planned to go to see the one in Paris several times but it's just not the same to do it alone. If MFCers will meet on Thu maybe we could also eat something together? Would be more fun. I don't have any other plans yet, just gigs and the meeting on Wed. Planning to do some sightseeing on Sun and Mon but haven't decided what I need to see in Montreal most. Any suggestions from locals...? The best museums etc? Except if you want to go to Biodome (http://m.espacepourlavie.ca/en couldbe fun with the little one) or St.Joseph Oriatory, both easily accessible by bus/metro, you're right. Most attractions are downtown Edited January 14, 2015 by cathouzouf
