sienna
I remember those days- and with the sound on tinny trasnsistor radios you NEVER know what the words were- or what the singer looked like Those were the days!
neeve272
Or a good girl who is dead? You know, gone as in dead.Or it's just bad grammar:naughty: "good gone girl" doesn't make sense to me either. it's like "well done girl:thumb_yello:" I don't get it either... could it be like "Good-Gone Girl", as in, all the good is gone from the girl? lol
Mika4Life13
quote mika's twitter; 'Mad rush finishing off mixes, new parts being written and recorded down to the wire. Titles being changed, lyrics being scrapped' yay! that means when we've discussed this stuff to death, we can start all over again! but, even when we DO hear the offish stuff, we'll be thinking about lyrics for months. some parts of over my shoulder still remain a mystery to me. veroMica
Sorry to come up with this, from some pages ago, but I'll go for England's version in the part: "her name was sacred but she was hateful". I think it doesn't make sense the "BUT she was hateful" after sayin' her name was April... the contradiction sacred-hateful does.
Marilyn Mastin
Or a good girl who is dead? You know, gone as in dead.Or it's just bad grammar:naughty: There's a saying, "good and gone". I think that's what it means. The girl is good and gone (she's left him) But if Mika's lyrics and titles seem a little different, that's okay. It's part of his own uniqueness. He kind-of writes his own rules, doesn't he!

dcdeb
You've gotten some of the same things I picked out when I listened last night, Mana -- the bits about "wounded soldier" and "wallet rollin'"... Gatagordinha
Can I suggest that in the first verse, he sings 'when she adored ya, the whole room would get to know'...? I'm also convinced I hear the word 'munter' in there 'sugar daddy, but he's just a munter' For those who don't know, munter is a British slang term for a very unattractive woman (which doesn't really fit with sugar daddy) but I believe it can also be used to refer to a drug user, which may fit. I may be totally wrong about hearing this of course but it's just another theory. It's so hard to hear the words of this song.

lollipop_monkey
I guess we just need to hear him sing it again to clarify for us. Agreed. I'll invite Mika 'round for tea, and he can sing it a capella for us without any bloody guitars making it hard to hear the lyrics. Arrgh, I like trying to figure out lyrics but if Mika's whipping out British slang then I'm hooped. The band Scouting for Girls has a song with the lyrics "you put the meaning in Wacaday." And for so long I was like "wtf? You put the meaning in what?" Not realizing, of course, that "Wacaday" was an old British television show. I've only used the MP3 version so might look at the videos to see if can actually see what he sings...Mine is so different to others.... When the end of the night gets tricky DON’CHA KNOW THAT BEGGARS can't be picky LOOKING OUT FOR a man who's golden Oooh, yes, I especially like these bits! "Don't you know that beggars can't be picky." That's gotta be it. Thanks! And yeah, check the vids. Lip-reading is a saving grace for this song.
