Even if the new date is this year or early next I still might not be able to go, I'd rather he did a tour of the UK next spring/summer and maybe then I can see him live! TinyLove_CJ
No one told me that the London gig had already been rescheduled for 22nd November! And it's already sold out! Not that I could go anyway... 😅 Anyway Red released a new single yesterday! Rien Dire According to Google the title translates as 'Say Nothing' (I'll admit when I first saw the title I thought it said 'Reindeer' 🙃) I really love this song, it's very beautiful. I get the impression that it's about still being in love with someone even if you're no longer with that person. Quite relatable! Redcar also has a new website: https://redcar.fun/ It's more of a blog type site with photos and words he often shares on instagram, so it's great for anyone who doesn't follow him there. TinyLove_CJ
Yet another new single from Red! La Chanson du Chevalier (translates as 'The Knight's Song') He filmed the video at Sotheby's art gallery (in their basement I think) and I love everything about it so much! The low lighting affect, the dancing (he still has a bad leg too!) and the actual red car! 😁 Really looking forward to the new album now.
TinyLove_CJ
Redcar's album 'Redcar les adorables étoiles' is here! I really love the album but I'll just share two more of my favourites here: à la clairefontaine: My Birdman: And you can listen to the whole album here: I noticed that the album playlist on YouTube ends with the word "prologue" which made me wonder if something more is coming from Red later on which might become an "epilogue" ? 🤔 He briefly mentioned that his performances this month are 'prologues' and described them as being an artistic display of transformation. With Red coming out as trans this year I can understand that and his new music too makes a lot more sense now.

The event sounds really interesting, I'm curious to know more about what the line up will be for the festival, it would be awesome if Chris got Mika to join! That really would be a dream come true to see them both live in the same week!

He's been a lot more open in the last year regarding his gender identity and transition, even his new music has a lot to do with what he's gone through. Do I still regard him as a great person and artist? Yes, yes I do. Honestly nothing has changed for me in regards to how I feel about Red, I still feel some kind of attraction. If anything I now have more respect for him for being so open and honest. Obviously from now on I will be using he/him pronouns to refer to Chris, and also use Red/Redcar more often. I won't alter previous posts as I think fans (new and old) should know about the transition he's gone through.

TinyLove_CJ
Love how Chris has casually dropped a new single yesterday! To Be Honest: I've only listened a couple of times but I'm already in love with this song! The meaning behind the song made a whole lot more sense after I read the story in the recent Christine and the Queens email newsletter which I'll share here: https://mailchi.mp/because/paranoa-angels-true-love-the-new-album-out-9-june?e=9e8917b5c7 (If the link doesn't work let me know and I'll copy the text instead) I honestly didn't know what Chris has been through in regards to his mum's death. Even recently he's often referred to her in the present tense and dedicated recent music to her, I just thought this was a nice way to thank her for supporting him. I guess, rather naively, I just assumed she was still around to be there for him. Chris has another new album out this year on June 9th! It's called Paranoïa, Angels, True Love. With the triple CD version there are 20 new songs, some are collaborations too, 3 are with Madonna! You can pre-order it here: (and other merch) https://shop.christineandthequeens.com/release/372476-christine-and-the-queens-paranoa-angels-true-love There is a single CD option but that only has 9 new songs on it, so really it's more worth it to go for the triple option. One thing I've noticed is that the song titles are 99% English (there's only 1 that isn't) which makes me wonder if the majority of the album will also be performed in English. Chris' last album is the opposite with more French songs and only 1 full English song (some of the French songs had a few English words though). Now then, I wonder where Mika got his "Let's do 2 albums in different languages" idea from... ? 🤔

silver
Nice to hear a Christine and the Queens song being used for the current Amazon Prime advert (Full of Life), even if it is just a snippet.

Yes! I recognised it straight away, I think a snippet is all they can get away with seeing as the song does have a few naughty words throughout it
TinyLove_CJ
Heck I'm not great at updating this thread with information on new music, that's CJsoon for you... Anyway, way back I did actually listen to Paranoïa, Angels, True Love on release and found most of the album not to my taste. Redcar (his preferred stage name) has certainly taken a new direction with his music. It's more electric and even ethereal in places, a lot from the album feels like it has a church choir music vibe. Which makes sense actually seeing as he has spoken recently about connecting more to his faith. The three collaboration tracks with Madonna are certainly not my thing, Madonna's voice sounds so odd, it doesn't even sound like she's singing. More like she's talking through a cheese grater. However there are tracks I do like which I'll share here. Tears Can Be So Soft A Day in the Water Full of Life - my favourite from the album. Gets me quite emotional when I listen to it, I love how the music has an orchestral feel and builds up perfectly. Flowery Days - makes me feel kinda sad even the piano playing is quite sombre but the melody of the piano is something to be appreciated. True Love - Love the video to this, it's quite sensual... To be Honest - the more I listen to this the more relateable I find the song, especially the words "Don't you, don't you break my heart, Feeling kind of loveless, Yet always ready to try", another favourite. Big Eye - this is such a powerful song, gives George Michael vibes! You can listen to the full album here: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_kMZqO8lLQh08xZsmoRwkUOvCY33lpRCZ8&si=pn2jran31BvW3k1p And then last month he went and released another album called HOPECORE. I say released, he actually "leaked" it as a free download on his social media. Not sure if the download link is still around but someone put it all on YouTube here: With only 7 tracks (+ two covers) it's more of an EP and once again it's very different with the musical style. A lot stronger with electric and synth beats. I actually don't like the album that much at all apart from one track ELEVATE. One track, Opéra (i understand), is now the longest track I know of at a whopping 20 minutes 5 seconds long! I could only listen to about 3 minutes of it 😅 Out of the covers I absolutely love this one: It's better than the original in my opinion and the electric mix actually fits really well. I love the creepy masked people! It's interesting to see where Redcar is going with his music. From what I've read he's wanting a change from what his management allows him to do. HOPECORE feels like a big nod to faith once again and expressing his freedom in being who he truly wants to be.
TinyLove_CJ
I was going to mention too that Redcar has legally changed his name to Rahim Claude Redcar. Rahim being what he wishes fans to call him by. He's been more open about his gender identity and transition this year and that he'd actually been using Rahim for 3 years privately before telling the public. There was a little backlash from some people because they didn't understand why he chose that name, some calling it cultural appropriation because it's a traditional Arabic name, it's not that common away from middle Eastern countries. Rahim has said it's a name that's special to him, I wonder if it has a special meaning for him too. I'm not going to question his name when he's clearly a lot happier and being his true self. Turns out he has had issues with his management, I don't think they're too pleased about HOPECORE being available for free. It was supposed to be released as a physical copy later on in the year after all. I get the feeling that Rahim truly wants to be in charge of his own music, I don't think it will be long before he goes fully independent. And to be honest good on him!
TinyLove_CJ
Had a gardening/talk show on TV at the weekend and some lovely violins started playing and I thought "ooh they're playing Full of Life", but the music continued with no lyrics which left me a bit confused, but then the presenter of the show explained it was Canon in D Major by Johann Pachelbel. Turns out it's quite a well known piece of classical music from the 1680's! I just never knew that myself 😅 Anyway, it is sampled in Full of Life throughout the song and I would never have known without watching that TV show! This is the Academy of St.Martin version which is sampled in Full of Life, it's beautiful!
silver
Oh, I didn't realise that you hadn't known about the song being based on Pachabel's Canon - it's a very well-known piece of classical music. I seem to remember we even had a thread about it, many years ago.
TinyLove_CJ
Christine and the Queens performed at the Paralympic Opening ceremony covering two songs, 'Non, je ne regrette rien' and 'Born to be Alive'. I can't find videos of the performances available to watch in the UK anywhere! 😠 There are these two youtube links but even with a VPN I can't watch them. Can anyone help or find other videos? https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=c1AyJa9iim4&feature=youtu.be https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=kHJgFXwWxxs&feature=youtu.be
TinyLove_CJ
I can't find the post now but Rahim has officially said that 'Christine and the Queens' is gone! With him expressing his identity through his music I had a feeling that this was coming at some point. In celebration of making his name official across his social media he has released a music video for Deep Holes. And I think HOPECORE will be getting an official release soon too!
