Breaking the rules, looking like a Greek God, the last minute decision to sing and introductory talk for C'est La Vie, the mirror piano, antics with Max and Clement, Over My Shoulder! STUCK IN THE MIDDLE! Thought I'd missed my chance to hear that live, I'm so so pleased he did it! But the personal highlight for me... HE TOOK MY PHONE!!! Να αλλάζουν τη διάθεσή μας χωρίς να συνειδητοποιούμε πώς και πότε συνέβη όλο αυτό. Η χθεσινή βραδιά στο Θέατρο Λυκαβηττού ήταν μια από αυτές τις στιγμές. Μία μεγάλη γιορτή, με πρωταγωνιστή τον MIKA. Ο ιδιαίτερος pop καλλιτέχνης μάς χάρισε μία από τις πιο έντονες, συγκινητικές και σίγουρα εντυπωσιακές φεστιβαλικές εμπειρίες, θυμίζοντάς μας τι σημαίνει να διασκεδάζεις με την ψυχή σου. Είναι 9:30 το βράδυ, ο καιρός -ευτυχώς- δροσερός, ο κόσμος χαμογελαστός και όλοι περιμένουμε να εμφανιστεί ο MIKA στη σκηνή. Έχουμε λάβει θέσεις όσο πιο κοντά μπορούμε, οι μουσικοί είναι έτοιμοι και το κοινό ουρλιάζει. Ξαφνικά ακούγεται η φωνή του, όμως η μορφή του δεν εντοπίζεται πουθενά. Κάνουμε μια γρήγορη στροφή, η πλάτη μας κοιτάει τη σκηνή και αντικρίζουμε τον MIKA στο κέντρο της αρένας. Δεν υπάρχουν κάγκελα γύρω του, δεν υπάρχει κανένα εμπόδιο, είναι ανάμεσα μας. Δημιουργούμε έναν κύκλο και όσο εμείς προσπαθούμε να συνειδητοποιήσουμε πόσο κοντά μας βρίσκεται, εκείνος ξεκινάει να τραγουδάει το “Origin Of Love”. Σαν άγγελος, φορώντας το κατάλευκο κουστούμι του και το φωτεινό χαμόγελό του, μας καλωσορίζει στο Rockwave. «Πιστεύω ότι σήμερα είμαι ο πιο τυχερός άντρας στην Αθήνα, γιατί απόψε είμαι μαζί με όλους εσάς, με όλους μου τους φίλους». Όπως φάνηκε, ο MIKA έχει πιστούς φίλους σε κάθε γωνιά της γης, μια και γνωρίσαμε κόσμο που είχε έρθει από τη Γαλλία, την Ιταλία, μέχρι και τη Σιγκαπούρη. Κρατάνε μαζί τους πανό, σημαίες, είναι απολύτως έτοιμοι για ένα αξέχαστο live. «Το σημερινό σόου θα είναι διαφορετικό, θα αφήσουμε για λίγο τους κανόνες που θέλουν τον καλλιτέχνη μόνο πάνω στη σκηνή. Απόψε, θα κάνω μια παράσταση με τρόπο που δεν έχει ξαναγίνει και δεν πρόκειται να ξαναγίνει. Έτοιμοι»; Ακούγονται οι πρώτοι στίχοι του “Ice Cream”, σειρά έχει το “Lollipop”, ο MIKA τραγουδάει μαζί με το κοινό στην αρένα και συνεχίζει με το “Big Girl”, μεταφερόμενος στο stage, σαν αερικό. Χορεύει ασταμάτητα -σχεδόν απορούμε από πού προέρχεται όλη αυτή η ενέργεια- και κάνει ένα μικρό διάλειμμα για να αλλάξει outfit. Συγκεκριμένα, κατά τη διάρκεια του live φόρεσε πέντε διαφορετικά κουστούμια -το ένα πιο όμορφο από το άλλο. Αφού ακούσαμε το Underwater -συγκινηθήκαμε παραπάνω απ’ όσο περιμέναμε- ήρθε με φορά το θρυλικό “Relax, take it easy” και το θέατρο του Λυκαβηττού έγινε ξανά ένα μουσικό πάρτι. Ήταν μια βραδιά που δεν απολαύσαμε μόνο την λαμπερή παρουσία του MIKA, αλλά είχαμε την ευκαιρία να γνωρίσαμε τον ίδιο, λίγο καλύτερα. Κρατάει το μικρόφωνο, κάθεται στο πάτωμα της σκηνής, μια ανάσα από την πρώτη γραμμή και ξεκινάει να μιλάει για τις γυναίκες της ζωής του. «Η γιαγιά μου ήταν πανέμορφη, ένας υπέροχος άνθρωπος και κυρίως πολύ νέα όταν γέννησε τη μητέρα μου. Η μητέρα μου υπήρξε ένα μείγμα κόρης και αδερφής, ένας συνδυασμός που πυροδοτούσε έντονες στιγμές. Φανταστείτε λοιπόν, μια μητέρα και μια κόρη να τσακώνονται, μετά φανταστείτε δύο αδερφές να τσακώνονται και ύστερα ενώστε αυτές τις καταστάσεις. Όποτε διαφωνούσαν, αυτό που συνέβαινε θύμιζε έκρηξη συναισθημάτων και πράγματι, δεν ήξερα τι να πω. Για αυτό και έγραψα ένα τραγούδι». Ακούγεται το “Stuck in the Middle” και τραγουδάμε με όλη μας τη φωνή. Στο κοινό μπορούσες να εντοπίσεις κάθε ηλικία, από μικρά έως πολύ «μεγάλα» παιδιά, με τα περισσότερα να έχουμε στο ένα χέρι το κινητό τραβώντας βίντεο, και με το άλλο να προσπαθούμε να χαιρετήσουμε τον MIKA. Τελικά, η τύχη σε αυτή τη συναυλία ήταν με ένα αγοράκι από τη Γαλλία, ανεβασμένο στους ώμους του μπαμπά του και τραγουδώντας ασταμάτητα, μέχρι τη στιγμή που ο MIKA του απηύθυνε τον λόγο. Ξεκινάνε να συζητάνε και μαθαίνουμε πως σήμερα είναι τα γενέθλια του. Ο MIKA του ζητάει να ανέβει στη σκηνή, ο μικρός μας φίλος βρίσκεται σε σοκ -λογικό- και τελικά χορεύουν οι δυο τους το “Elle Me Dit”. «Θα μετρήσω μέχρι το τρία και θέλω να χορέψετε χωρίς να κοιτάτε τη σκηνή. Αν δεν γνωρίζετε το άτομο που θα βρεθεί απέναντί σας, ακόμα καλύτερα». Φτάνει η ώρα για το Grace Kelly, οι προβολείς κινούνται ρυθμικά, δημιουργείται ένα σκηνικό από έντονα χρώματα και η κατασκευή πίσω από την οποία βρίσκεται το πιάνο του MIKA, ανοίγει και εμφανίζονται αμέτρητα λουλούδια -ίσως ως μια αναφορά στο νέο άλμπουμ του καλλιτέχνη, με τίτλο “Que ta tête fleurisse toujours”, δηλαδή «Να ανθίζουν πάντοτε οι σκέψεις σου». Έπειτα, ο ρομαντικός μας εαυτός εμφανίζεται από τον πρώτο στίχο του“Happy Ending”, του τραγούδιου που όπως είχε πει στην ATHENS VOICE ο ΜΙΚΑ, ταιριάζει πλήρως στην ευαίσθητη πλευρά των Ελλήνων. Before SITM he explained there was a tradition of him forgetting his lyrics, and fans in the front row quickly finding them on Google for him. He asked the front row to be ready because he was about to sing a song that he'd not sung live for years. Then launched into SITM. I was 2nd row, but I could see the girls in front of me were busy taking photos and video, so I hopped onto the MFC lyrics page, found the song, and held it up so he could see it was there if he needed it. I think some fans further to the right were also waving phones in the air, but when he wanted to check them he was centre front, so mine was closest. When he looked at it he had a little goofy giggle. Μήπως κάτι γίνεται λάθος στο συναυλιακό μας τοπίο; Χθες βράδυ ήταν μια πολύ συναισθηματικά φορτισμένη βραδιά για μένα προσωπικά, γιατί βρέθηκα στο Θέατρο Λυκαβηττού για πρώτη φορά μετά από 12 χρόνια και την τελευταία συναυλία του Morrissey εκεί, τον Ιούλιο του 2012. Ο Mika για μένα ήταν μια πολύ όμορφη συνθήκη για να κάνω επάνοδο στον λόφο και όταν βρέθηκα μέσα στον χώρο γύρω στις 20:00 με δυσκολία σταμάτησα να κλαίω (να ‘ναι καλά η Αγγέλα Κόλλια που τρόμαξε ότι κάτι έπαθα και με φρέναρε). Η πρώτη ώρα κύλησε με πηγαδάκια έξω τις σκάλες των καμαρινίων (που πλέον, δυστυχώς, οι καλλιτέχνες δεν περνούν από εκεί για να ανέβουν στη σκηνή όπως παλιά και γινόταν τζέρτζελο, αλλά τέλος πάντων), μιλώντας για όλα όσα έχουμε ζήσει εκεί από τα ‘70s, για όσα έχουν αλλάξει, για όσα περιμένουμε να δούμε, γιατί ο Λυκαβηττός είναι μια ιεροτελεστία. Είναι οι παρέες που συναντιούνται έξω από το μπαρ και στο προαύλιο πριν τη σκηνή και λένε τα νέα τους, είναι ο κόσμος στα βραχάκια που φτιάχνει το τέλειο σκηνικό, είναι η θαλπωρή που σε κάνει να νιώθεις λες και είσαι στην αγκαλιά της φροντιστικής μάνας. Ο Mika θα έβγαινε στις 21:00 αλλά εκείνη την ώρα ακόμα έμπαινε κόσμος (κάποιες κυρίες από διάφορες άλλες χώρες είχαν έρθει από τις 19:00 για να πιάσουν κάγκελο, ντυμένες στα χρώματα του ουράνιου τόξου, άλλες με παγιέτες και τεράστια λουλούδια στα κεφάλια τους) και το θέατρο ήταν σχεδόν άδειο. Μέχρι τις 21:40 κατάφερε να μαζέψει 200 ακόμα άτομα. Τα φώτα έσβησαν, ακούστηκαν οι πρώτες νότες της μουσικής και τρέξαμε προς τη σκηνή αλλά… δεν είδαμε πουθενά τον Mika. Τον ακούσαμε όμως και από την αναταραχή του κόσμου και έναν δυνατό προβολέα να πέφτει μέσα στον κύκλο του αμφιθεάτρου, διαπιστώσαμε ότι βρισκόταν μέσα στο κοινό. «Καλησπέρα σας», μας είπε σε άψογα ελληνικά -αφού εδώ και μια επταετία τουλάχιστον μένει στην Ελλάδα περίπου τους μισούς μήνες κάθε χρόνου και την καραντίνα την έβγαλε όλη εδώ- και μαζί με τον κιθαρίστα του, μέσα σε κλάσματα δευτερολέπτου, δημιούργησαν ένα ξέφρενο πάρτυ και όλοι μαζί χορεύαμε και τραγουδούσαμε μαζί τους. «Τελικά είμαι πολύ τυχερός», είπε, «Έχω παίξει σε μεγάλους χώρους, μπροστά σε χιλιάδες κόσμου αλλά είναι η πρώτη φορά που θα παίξω μόνο για τους φίλους μου». Και τα έδωσε όλα. Συνέχισε αυτό το τρελό πάρτυ, μέσα στον κόσμο, ανέβηκε στη σκηνή, ξανακατέβηκε ακόμα δύο φορές, ανέβηκε επάνω σε κατασκευές στη σκηνή μαζί με τον κιθαρίστα του που έτρεμε μην πέσει (πόσο γλυκούλης και πόσο ταυτίστηκα που έπιανε το χέρι του Mika για να στηριχτεί στα σκαλάκια), χόρευε και πεταγόταν στον αέρα και η φωνή του έκανε ακριβώς το ίδιο. Ανεβοκατέβαινε τις οκτάβες λες και ήταν ΤΟ ΠΙΟ ΕΥΚΟΛΟ ΠΡΑΓΜΑ ΣΤΟΝ ΚΟΣΜΟ και έδινε το έναυσμα για τον δικό μας χορό και το sing along μας, φωνάζοντας: «Πάμε, ένα, δύο, τρίααα». Ήταν αυτό που λέμε “απόλυτα ακομπλεξάριστος, υπερταλαντούχος καλλιτέχνης με μεγάλα κοχόνες”. Μας μίλησε για τον τρόπο που πρέπει να αναζητάμε τη δική μας χαρά και να μην αφήνουμε κανέναν να μας την κλέψει, μας μίλησε για τη δύσκολη περίοδο που έχασε τη μητέρα του και της έγραψε το κομμάτι C’est La Vie, το οποίο μας τραγούδησε αμέσως μετά, ανέβασε ένα παιδάκι στη σκηνή για να μιλήσουν μαζί στο κοινό, τυλίχτηκε με τη σημαία από τον Λίβανο (τη γενέτειρά του) που του έδωσε κάποια φαν από εκεί και έφτιαξε ένα υπέροχο μουσικό καλειδοσκόπιο με όλα τα αγαπημένα μας τραγούδια (στο Relax, Take it Easy και το Grace Kelly κυριολεκτικά βγάλαμε το άχτι μας στον χορό). Γιατί όμως ένας τέτοιος μεγάλος καλλιτέχνης (και δεν αναφέρομαι μόνο στο εύρος της επιτυχίας του παγκοσμίως αλλά στη δουλειά που κάνει, τόσο στο στούντιο, όσο και στα live του) να δίνει την πρώτη του μεγάλη προσωπική συναυλία στη χώρα μας (είχε εμφανιστεί και πριν τον Robbie Williams στο περσινό Rockwave Festival αλλά ήταν ως μέρος του line up ενός φεστιβάλ) και να έχει από κάτω μόνο 600 άτομα; Κάποιος θα πει αυτομάτως: «Ε, αφού τέτοιοι είμαστε, δεν εκτιμάμε τα καλά πράγματα, αλλά γεμίζουμε τα θέατρα όταν παίζει ο Θανάσης και ο Σωκράτης». Κάτι παρόμοιο είχε συμβεί και πολλά χρόνια πριν όταν έπαιξε η Suzanne Vega σε έναν άδειο Λυκαβηττό και αποφάσισε να κάνει το live της στον κύκλο κάτω, μέσα στο κοινό αλλά δεν πιστεύω ότι μόνο αυτή είναι η αιτία. Έχουμε φτάσει σε ένα σημείο να έχουμε εκατοντάδες συναυλίες κάθε καλοκαίρι (δεν θα πω για ολόκληρη τη χρονιά που είναι υπερδιπλάσιες), με εισιτήρια που πλέον έχουν φτάσει στον Θεό. Όταν το 2018 έπαιξαν για πρώτη φορά οι Arctic Monkeys στη Μαλακάσα, με εισιτήριο κάπου στα 75-80 ευρώ, όλοι γκρινιάζαμε για το πόσο ακριβό ήταν (και ήταν η μοναδική συναυλία με τόσο ακριβό αντίτιμο, τότε). Μόλις 4 χρόνια μετά, έχει πλέον παγιωθεί αυτή η συνθήκη και το εισιτήριο για συναυλίες και φεστιβάλ με ξένα ονόματα φτάνει τα 75 ευρώ σε πάρα πολλές περιπτώσεις. Μόνο που πλέον δεν πραγματοποιούνται μόνο 3-4 συναυλίες κατά τη θερινή περίοδο. Είναι πολλά τα ονόματα που θέλουμε να δούμε κάθε χρόνο και δεν φτάνει ούτε ο μισθός αλλά ούτε και ο χρόνος. Ακόμα κι εμείς οι συντάκτες, που σε πολλά από τα events έχουμε προσκλήσεις για να τα καλύψουμε δημοσιογραφικά, δεν έχουμε τον χρόνο, ούτε τις αντοχές να μπορέσουμε τρέξουμε σε όλα. Αντιλαμβανόμαστε λοιπόν πόσο δύσκολο μπορεί να είναι κάτι τέτοιο για κάποιον που και πρέπει να πληρώσει και πρέπει να δουλέψει για να βγάλει τον μισθό του για ανταπεξέλθει, όχι παρακολουθώντας μια συναυλία ή μία παράσταση και να γράψει μετά για αυτή, αλλά ξενυχτώντας στο γραφείο του ή οπουδήποτε αλλού το απαιτεί η δουλειά του. Εμείς, οι λίγοι, που ανεβήκαμε χθες βράδυ στον Λυκαβηττό, περάσαμε υπέροχα. Και ο Mika υπέροχα πέρασε και μετά (αν κρίνω από τις πεζοπορίες που μου είπε στη συνέντευξη που μου είχε δώσει πριν λίγο καιρό ότι κάνει διαρκώς στην Αθήνα) πιθανότατα κατηφόρισε με την παρέα του με τα πόδια στο σπίτι του στο Μετς και χέστηκε που δεν είχε τον κόσμο που περίμενε, γιατί είχε τον κόσμο που θέλει κάθε καλλιτέχνης να έχει: παθιασμένο, ζεστό, συλλογικό, χαμογελαστό, αλλά πρέπει επιτέλους οι διοργανωτές να καταλάβουν ότι με αυτά τα εισιτήρια και τόσες πολλές προτάσεις, αν δεν βοηθήσουν οι ίδιοι την παραγωγή τους και τους καλλιτέχνες κατεβάζοντας τις τιμές, θα έχουν σε πολλές περιπτώσεις και χώρους άδειους. Ενώ σε αντίθετη περίπτωση θα είχαν πληρότητα και θα έβγαιναν κερδισμένοι και υλικά αλλά και ηθικά. Επειδή άκουσα και για άλλες συναυλίες που ακυρώθηκαν φέτος ή έχουν κόψει μόνο 500 εισιτήρια, ελπίζω αυτές οι φετινές απογοητεύσεις να λειτουργήσουν ως ένα καλό μάθημα και του χρόνου να μπορέσουμε να απολαύσουμε περισσότερα ονόματα και τα ονόματα να απολαύσουν περισσότερους από εμάς. But why should such a great artist (and I'm not only referring to the scope of his worldwide success but to the work he does, both in the studio and in his live shows) give his first big personal concert in our country (he had appeared before Robbie Williams at last year's Rockwave Festival but it was as part of a festival line up) and only have 600 people down? Someone will automatically say: "Well, since we are like that, we don't appreciate good things, but we fill the theaters when Thanasis and Socrates play." Something similar happened many years ago when Suzanne Vega played in an empty Lycabettus and decided to do her live in the circle below, in the audience but I don't think that is the only reason. We've gotten to a point where we have hundreds of concerts every summer (I won't say for the whole year that's more than double), with tickets that have now reached God. When the Arctic Monkeys played in Malakasa for the first time in 2018, with a ticket somewhere around 75-80 euros, we all complained about how expensive it was (and it was the only concert with such an expensive price, at the time). Only 4 years later, this condition has now been consolidated and the ticket for concerts and festivals with foreign names reaches 75 euros in many cases. Except that now there are only 3-4 concerts during the summer season. There are many names we want to see every year and neither the salary nor the time is enough. Even we the editors, who in many of the events have invitations to cover them journalistically, do not have the time or the stamina to be able to run to everything. So we understand how difficult this can be for someone who both has to pay and has to work to make ends meet, not by attending a concert or a show and then writing about it, but by staying up late in his office or wherever elsewhere his work requires it. We, the few, who went up to Lycabettus last night, had a great time. And Mika had a great time and then (judging from the hikes he told me in the interview he gave me a while ago that he does all the time in Athens) he probably walked down with his company to his house in Metz and got lost that he didn't have the crowd he was waiting for, because he had the crowd that every artist wants to have: passionate, warm, collective, smiling, but the organizers must finally understand that with these tickets and so many proposals, if they don't help their production themselves and the artists, lowering the prices, will in many cases have empty spaces. Whereas in the opposite case they would have completeness and they would have won both materially and morally. Since I have heard of other concerts this year that have been canceled or only cut 500 tickets, I hope that this year's disappointments will serve as a good lesson and next year we will be able to enjoy more names and the names will enjoy more of us.
