xLAURENx Posted July 6, 2007 Share Posted July 6, 2007 oh yeah thats it! with the "arigatou", you'll see i phonetically spelt it with an "L". that is because the Japanese do not have the letter R in their alphabet. Japanese spelt in the english has an R simply because it is easier for us to get to grips with, but if you listen to a japanese person say "arigatou" or any other word that supposedly has an "R" in it, you'll hear the sound is in between an "R" and an "L" sound. This may be strange because the japanese alphabet also does not contain an "L".
