More than half of our modern English vocabulary is derived from Latin. Many of our prefixes (anti-, post-, pre-) and suffixes (-ate, -ic, -al ) have been taken from Latin. Words of Latin origin: Ambiguous, dignified, intellect, magnificent, monopoly, immense, colossal, exaggerate, quotation, ultimate Therefore Carmel, it is Renaissance i think. LOL.
